Rodney D. Maxson, age 50, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, February 22, 2014 at his residence. Born November 20, 1963 in Columbus, OH. Graduate of OSU with an Electrical Engineering Degree. Employed by the Naval Surface Warfare Center out of Dahlgren, VA. Rod was an adventurer and enjoyed scuba diving, was Past President of SeaNags Dive Club and participated in the surveying of the Cornelia B. Windiate shipwreck in Lake Huron; he participated in competive skiing to raise funds for Winter Special Olympics; also enjoyed white water rafting, caving, photography, and repelling. Preceded in death maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents, Mildred Maxson and Charles Maxson. Survived by wife of 9 years, Debra; parents, Earl E. and Donna M. Maxson; brother, Douglas D. (Gretchen) Maxson; niece, Tracey Maxson and nephew, Christopher Maxson; brother-in-law, Jim (Jeannie) Maynard; stepson, Tony (Eleanor) Obert; 4 grandchildren; 1 aunt, several uncles and many, many friends. Friends may call Sunday, March 2, 2014 from 2 until time of memorial service at 4 p.m. at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St. in Hilliard, OH. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to the Winter Special Olympics, c/o Barry Mones, 37331 Hidden Bay Dr. Selbyville, DE 19975. In keeping with his wishes, Rod will be incorporated into an artificial reef so that he may forever be apart of the ocean he loved to explore.
