Sam Robert Sberna, age 87, of Dublin, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. He was born in 1930 in Bellevue, Ohio to Carmelina and John Sberna. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Anthony, sisters Carolyn Gindy and Theresa Mitchell. Sam served in the US Army in Fort Eustis, VA and graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He enjoyed a long and successful career at E.I. Dupont for 36 years as a technical service rep and subsequently in evaluating and developing industrial markets for newly developed Mylar Polyester film. After retiring from Dupont in Florence, SC, he was active in the community serving as president of the Kiwanis Club and volunteering for numerous charity events. A devout Catholic, he was a member of St Brigid of Kildare Church and sang in the choir after moving to Dublin. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Meg (Mooney) Sberna, his daughters, Jane Sberna, Julie Pacetta, and Mary Pat Sberna and two grandchildren, Frankie (Essie) and Alle Pacetta. Sam will be remembered as a very caring individual, having a good sense of humor, and as an accessible neighborhood maintenance helper. A private Mass of Christian Burial followed by burial at Resurrection Cemetery will be held for the family.
