It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Sara Maria Caiazza (Carson), beloved mother, daughter, wife, and nurse, on November 7, 2024. Sara’s passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of all who knew her. Sara was a remarkable woman whose kindness, strength, and dedication touched the lives of countless people. She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, Damon, and the proud, caring mother of three beautiful children: Camryn (Daughter), Carson (Son), and Claire (Daughter). Sara’s family was her greatest joy, and her love for them knew no bounds. She was a constant source of support, encouragement, and warmth, always putting the needs of those she loved before her own. Her career spanned 19 years, during which she exemplified the highest standards of care, compassion, and leadership. From her early days as a registered nurse at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (Columbus, OH) to her leadership roles at City of Hope (Los Angeles and Irvine, CA) as the Vice President, Chief of Clinical Operations & Associate Chief Nursing Officer. Sara’s expertise and unwavering commitment to her patients and colleagues earned her the admiration of everyone who worked with her. She was known for her intelligence, compassion, and tireless advocacy for her patients, colleagues and the nursing profession as a whole. Sara’s legacy as a nurse extends far beyond the walls of the hospitals and clinics where she worked. Her compassion for others, her mentorship of young nurses, and her unwavering dedication to improving the lives of those she served will continue to inspire future generations of healthcare professionals. Sara’s warmth and generosity touched everyone she met.
