Sherry Buffington

Sherry (Statczar) Buffington age 74, left this world for her heavenly home on 25th of January, 2024.  A devoted and loving Wife, Mother, Mammaw, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, and Friend, passed away surrounded by the love and comfort of those who loved her so dearly.  Sherry worked extremely hard throughout her lifetime to ensure that her family had everything they needed to be happy and successful.  Her favorite things were her family and living life to its fullest with much love and laughter.  Sherry worked for Hilliard City Schools as a school bus driver for over 30 years and then hit the friendly skies as a flight attendant until retirement.  Although she enjoyed her career, her favorite job was raising her children and being a grandmother.  

A longtime Hilliard resident, Sherry is preceded in death by her parents Alexander Spangler and Betty (Hall) Hamby, husband Rodney (Butch) Statczar, brother Jerry Spangler and sister in-law Sharon Statczar.  Survived by her loving husband, Chet Buffington; daughter, Julie (Saul) Lugo; sons Todd (Jennie), Trent (Kristal), Troy (Kelly); stepsons Joseph (Jill), John and Luke (Marianne); her 11 grandchildren, Logan (Christina), Alexandra (Jacob), Hayden, Madeline (Tony), Austin, Sophia (Dean), Grant (Samantha), Molly, Zack, Claire, Troy and great grandchildren Roman and Isabella. Sherry is also survived by stepmother Rose Spangler, brother-in-law Ronald Statczar, sister-in-law Jean Adkins, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends.  

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 30th at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St. in Hilliard.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and a funeral service will immediately follow.  Sherry will be interred at Wesley Chapel Cemetery after the service.
