Steven Gibson

Steven Scott "Gibby" Gibson was born August 11, 1955 and, after a brief unexpected illness, passed peacefully from our midst May 8, 2024 with his nephew Christopher by his side. A 1974 graduate of Hilliard High School, he was disappointed not to be making it to his 50th class reunion in just a few weeks!

Steve was a proud Iron Worker with Local 172 for 37 years, retiring in 2017.  Those who knew him will remember his gruff ol' goat personality with a core of sentimentality.  He had a very dry sense of humor (his love language) but was sure to add a side smile just in case you didn't get the joke. A fisherman since our times at Indian Lake as kids, Steve was a huge fan of music and especially Cleveland and Ohio State sports.  He'd also never turn down the opportunity for a good burger and beer with the guys. 

Steve was predeceased by parents James F. Gibson & Vivian (Gallagher) Gibson; maternal grandparents Gilbert & Emma (Kaiser) Gallagher; paternal grandparents Roy Gibson & Ruth (Coates) Gibson; and brother-in-law Jeff Sauls. He is survived by siblings, Sheila Gibson Hutchison, Brenda Gibson Sauls, James R. (Cynthia) Gibson; his nephew Christopher (Christina) Hutchison, and great-nephews Grant and Oliver Hutchison; nephew Shaun (Sara) Sauls; close aunt, Virginia McMannis; a large extended family, including former wives Kathie Steece and Debbie Gibson and their families; and a lifetime of great friends. Everyone has a favorite memory, so we’d love for you to share!

Per Steve's wishes, there will be no services. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be scheduled at a later date.  Services entrusted to Tidd Family Funeral Home, Hilliard, OH.
