Steven Van Houten

Steven A. Van Houten, age 57, of Columbus, died Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at The Columbus Rehabilitation and Subacute Institute. He was born July 28, 1953 in Springfield, Ohio. He is survived by his parents Andrew and Ruth Carol (Reed) Van Houten, sister Ellen and brother Andrew. He was a 1971 graduate of Reynoldsburg High School, where he was a member of the varsity wrestling and football teams. He received his Bachelors Degree in Economics from The Ohio State University in 1977. He retired from The Ohio State University Hospital after a 30 year career. Steven was an enthusiastic sports fan, particularly of the OSU Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Reds and Columbus Blue Jackets. He was also an avid student of history with a library of books, ranging from ancient Egypt to the Civil War. He will be missed his family and friends. Visitation will be held 12-2 pm Friday at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026; where a service will follow at 2 pm Friday with Danny Vanscoy officiating. Private burial will be held at Wesley Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Steven’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
