Susan Hazzard

Susan Hazzard, age 77, of Hilliard, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023.  Susan was born in Youngstown, Ohio to the late John and Dorothy Peters.

Susan was a beloved mother, Nana, teacher and friend. She taught for 39 years, which included one year at Purdue University, two years within the Tippecanoe School Corporation and 35 years within West Lafayette Community Schools. She received the “Seeds of Excellence Grant Award” and was a member of “Who’s Who in the World of Teaching”. In addition to being a frequent guest speaker at Purdue and a presenter for an Indiana Teachers of Writing conference, Susan co-authored and published a book, “Education As Adventure: Lessons from the Second Grade”. She contributed positively to the lives of so many, and her reading, personal stories and generosity brought joy to countless people. She is dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

Susan is preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy (Tydeman) Peters, sister Patricia (Peters) Conlin, and her brother Bruce Peters. 

Susan is survived by her daughter, Sheri Primm, brother, John (Kathy) Peters, and her grandchildren Evan, Maren and Aidan Primm.
