Thelma Gelfius

Thelma “Kate” Gelfius, 83, of Columbus Ohio went home to the Lord on Friday, April 25^th, 2014 after a long struggle with heart disease.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and “Hap” Swartwood, and her sister Pat Gelfius. 

She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Carl R. Gelfius; 4 children: Catherine Russell, Dan Gelfius, Jane Bowden and Nancy Jo Braden and their spouses; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; her brother Alva Swartwood; and an abundance of nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.  She was a member of Hilliard Church of Christ.

Kate was well known for cheerful humor and remarkable memory for rhymes, puzzles and song lyrics.  She was kind-hearted and loving, and brightened everyone’s day.  She led by example that we should love one another.  Visitation will be held on Monday, April 28^th from 4-6 pm and services will be held on Tuesday April 30^th at 10 am at the Tidd Funeral Home 5265 Norwich St. Hilliard Ohio.
