Thomas Lewis Baker, aged 86, passed away peacefully in his sleep with his family beside him on the afternoon of Friday, October 6, 2017. Tom was born in Columbus, Ohio on August 5, 1931 to parents John and Virginia Baker. Tom benefited from the loving care of the Groves family of Dublin, Ohio during his eventful childhood. As a young man, Tom Baker served with the United States' Naval Forces in Korea from 1950-1954. He served his country with bravery and passion aboard the USS Los Angeles. Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia (Kelly) Baker. The Bakers were married for sixty-four years! Additionally, Tom Sr. is survived by his eldest son, Tom Jr. of Hilliard, Ohio. Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his youngest son, Tim, by just four short months. Tom Baker also leaves behind grieving grandchildren Erica(Greg)& Nathan (Lyndsai) Baker, and his caring sister Virginia of Canton, Ohio. Mr. B. will also be deeply missed by brothers-in-law Jack (Wanda) & "Lefty" (Pat) Kelly, and family members Billy & "Aunt" Julie Roush; along with many nieces and nephews. Tom enjoyed learning about his Native American heritage and was a founding member of The First Ohio Light Artillery. Tom Baker held deep knowledge of military history, tactics, purpose, and the American Civil War. His curiosity, his creativity, and his candor was far-reaching. Thomas Lewis Baker's powerful story-telling, witty sense of humor, and warm smile will always be remembered. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make donations to the Alzheimer's Association of Central Ohio or to The Ohio Historical Society. A private Celebration of Life will be announced soon.
