Thomas M. Parsons, age 72, passed away suddenly Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at his home. Born June 5, 1941 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada to the late Whelan and Edna (Schott) Parsons. Received his Bachelors Degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI; and his Master’s of Divinity from Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary in Grand Rapids, MI. Former Pastor of First Baptist Church, Oglesby, IL. Retired Bible and English Teacher from Maranatha Christian School, Columbus, OH. Authored several books, including Windsor’s Child. Served as Deacon and Small Group Leader at Maranatha Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother and 2 sisters. Survived by wife of 45 years, Linda; daughters, Miranda (Peter) Shisler, Jennifer (Christian) Miller and Kathleen (Seth) Kirtland; sisters, Diane Ford and Lynne (Philip) Weeks; 11 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Friends may call Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Tidd Family Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich St. in Hilliard from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Family committal service will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Alton Cemetery at 10 a.m. Memorial service will be Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Maranatha Baptist Church, 4663 Trabue Rd. in Columbus beginning at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to either Maranatha Baptist Church or First Baptist Church of Oglesby, IL are appreciated.
