Thomas Ray Pulley, age 83, was called home by his Lord and Savior on May 24, 2008. Tom slipped peacefully to rest surrounded by his family, friends, and caregivers at a private care facility. He had been battling COPD, emphysema, and a recent cancer. He was born in Antrim, Ohio, son of the late William Leroy and Opal Irene Pulley. Tom was married to Jean Brown and later divorced. He later married Janice Keith in Honolulu, Hawaii. Tom was a WWII veteran and P.O.W. He received a Purple Heart for his service, sacrifice, and dedication. He felt proud and honored to serve his country and strongly believed in what the Armed Forces and Veterans stood for in this country. He was an active Mason and Shriner for many years. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Tom went on to attend The Ohio State University. He had focused on becoming a forester, but found his true calling in the Tool and Die Industry, making plastic injection molds for his own company and many others. Ever the perfectionist, as a tool and die man to the end, he remarked only days before his passing, about the poor craftsmanship in the excess “flashing” protruding from the sides of a plastic bingo number cover he was using. He was dumbfounded that a company could possibly think it was appropriate to ship such a poorly finished product out to a consumer. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, his brother, “Lew” Pulley, his son, Loren, and step-daughter, Joyce. He is survived by four daughters, Judi of TX, Georgia and husband Lee of UT, Pat and husband Roger of MT, Jeanie and husband John of MT; four step-daughters, Cindy, Debbie, Michelle, and husband Mark of OH, Paula and husband Doug of CA; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children, P.O. Box 2472 Spokane, WA 99210 or Hospice. A military memorial service will be held at 4:30pm Sunday June 1 at the VFW, 2346 Walcutt Hilliard, OH.
