Vaun Lee Coykendall, age 62, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Hilliard, Ohio on February 16, 2021.
Vaun was born on May 8, 1958 in Yellville, Arkansas to Carolyn Ann (Johnson) Coykendall and Earl Vaun Coykendall. His father was in the military and as a family they moved multiple times throughout Vaun’s childhood, living in places such as Portugal and California.
Vaun graduated from Mount Gilead High School (Ohio) in 1976 and went on to join the United States Marine Corps, proudly serving his country for 13 years. Following discharge from the Marine Corps, he worked as a career mechanic/Fleet Manager for Sanese Services, and most recently, Aramark Uniform Services.
Vaun enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Softail Deluxe and spending time with his family and his dog Honey. He enjoyed family trips to Yellville, Arkansas, which was his birthplace and where his mother grew up. He also had a love for the outdoors, which included fishing, gardening, and camping. During college football season, Vaun could be found loudly cheering on his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes.
Vaun is preceded in death by his father Earl Coykendall and his dog Honey. He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Coykendall, loving daughters Aubrey Coykendall (Matt Vanderkamp) and Whitney Bell (Bryan), sister Teresa Coykendall, and grandchildren Damte, Brenna, Wade, Ashe, and Brylee.
Vaun will be laid to rest at Kingwood Memorial Park in Lewis Center, Ohio, along with his beloved dog Honey (recently deceased), following a private family service. A Celebration of Life gathering is planned for March 20, 2021 at the Hilliard VFW Post #4931, where Vaun was a lifetime member. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family of Vaun Coykendall to assist with funeral/burial expenses.
