Velma Mae (Hux)-Welsh Bell, age 96, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 28, 2011 at the Court House Manor in Washington Court House. She was born July 17, 1914 in Madison County, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late John & Etta (Rader) Hux.
Velma graduated from Midway High School; she worked at Bloomingburg School (Miami Trace School District) as a Cook for 17 years; she enjoyed camping, cooking for her family, fishing. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Sister who enjoyed spending time with all of her family.
Preceded in death by two husbands, Dennis Walter Welsh (1970) and Leo Franklin Bell (1998); 2 sons & daughter-in-law, Jerry L. Welsh, Donald E. (Phyllis) Welsh; daughter, Janet E. Welsh; step-son, Orlyn Bell; one granddaughter, 3 step grandchildren; 5 sisters, Mary Mechling, Martha Leppla, Helen Miller, Esther Anderson, Mildred Hughes; 4 brothers Leonard, Earl, William, and Harold Hux.
She is survived by children, Stanley G. Welsh (Joycelyn) of Washington Court House, Earl Welsh (Elsbeth) of Delaware, OH.,Robert Welsh (Jackie) of Washington Court House, Lynn Dennis (Tom) of Chillicothe, Lynda Rodgers (Paul) of New Holland, step children, Karen Sue McAdams (Tim) of Jeffersonville, Kevin Bell of Florida, Joe Bell (Andrea) of South Charleston; daughters-in-law, Paula Welsh Mills (John) of Florida, Dorothy Bell of Bloomingburg; sister-in-law, Betty Hux of Washington C.H.; 22 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; 31 great, great grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; sisters Ruth Milstead of Powell, Norma Jean Phillips of Florida; brother, Donald Hux (Norma) of Mt. Sterling.
A Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2011 at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling. Pastor Jay Lucas and Pastor Earl Ralph Hux officiating with the interment following in Bloomingburg Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, June 2nd from 4 – 8 p.m.
