Veronika Terezia Lill Enesey passed from this life on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the age of 85. Born to privilege in Budapest, Hungary, she endured the destruction of her world and the privation of postwar Germany through the strength of her family and her unwillingness to give in to the temptation of despair. She came, alone, as a stateless refugee, to the United States in 1956 and settled in Columbus. There she started her life anew, married, had a child, and began her association with The Ohio State University, to which she devoted 50 years of her life and experience. Along the way, she met, befriended, helped, and became part of the lives of an uncountable number of people. She never gave up, never slowed down, and retired from the work she loved only when her body simply refused to keep up with her spirit. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Vera on Thursday September 21, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Agatha Catholic Church, 1860 Northam Road in Upper Arlington. Father Daniel Ochs will preside. Inurnment will be at Resurrection Cemetery on a later date. A luncheon will be held at the church immediately after the Mass for friends to gather. If they choose, friends may make memorial contributions to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank www.midohiofoodbank.org or The Open Shelter www.theopenshelter.org in her memory.
