Vickie Kay Phipps

Vickie Kay Phipps, 68, of Columbus, Ohio passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at Riverside Methodist Hospital.

Vickie was born on March 12, 1956, in Portsmouth, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Rosemary Phipps.

Vickie attended Central High School and Franklin University in Columbus. She took great pride in her job as an employee of AFSCME Ohio Council 8 for more than 30 years where she held multiple positions in the staff union and served on the staff bargaining team. Her most recent position was Treasurer of the staff union.

When Vickie wasn’t at work, she was spending time with her beloved family. She truly loved her granddaughters and could be routinely found on the sidelines cheering them on or taking them to practice and games. She was a huge fan of Frostys from Wendy’s and always offered to share her meal with others. Vickie had a great love for all animals and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Vickie was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Howard. Vickie is survived by her loving son, Michael Phipps (Michelle Francis) of Dublin, Ohio; two beautiful granddaughters, Samantha and Madison Phipps; brother Dennis Phipps; sister Barbara Stewart; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many lifelong friends.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, at Tidd Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, Ohio 43026. A celebration of life will immediately follow at 7 p.m.
