Vivian I. Dempsey

Vivian I. Dempsey, age 80, of Hilliard, Ohio, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.  Born in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Russell F. and Millie I. Wilson, she married her teenage sweetheart, Richard L. Dempsey, and were married for 60 years.  Together they raised their family in Hilliard.  Vivian was known for her kindness, generosity and loving heart.  She never met a stranger and friends were treated like family.  She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, lovingly called “Mammy” by her great-grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Thomas, Russell, Duane and John Wilson.  Vivian is survived by her beloved husband Richard L. Dempsey, their children Kim Dempsey of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, Tom (Rhonda Wolfe) Dempsey of Hilliard, Tim (Chrissy) Dempsey of Hilliard and Kelly (Mike Gibbs) of Daytona Beach, Florida, their grandchildren Taylor (Chris Columbro) Dempsey of Worthington, Ohio and Miranda (Noah) Walters of Sunbury, Ohio, their great-grandchildren Jayden, Kylie and Jace, siblings Martha Arklin of Houston, Texas and Mary (Larry) Copas of Westerville, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews.
