Ward Lee Weber, age 82, formerly of Hilliard, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014. He was born to Louis Walter and Katie (Thomas) Weber on November 7, 1931, in their farmhouse in Dublin, Ohio. After graduating from Dublin High School in 1949, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving in the Korean Conflict until he was honorably discharged in 1953. He is survived by the love of his life, the former Jeannine Brake, who he married on May 15, 1954, embarking on over 60 years of wedded bliss. He is also survived by his children Kim (David) Mathias, Ward L (Lisa) Weber II, Lori (Steve) Carman and Amy (Jason) Beavan; grandchildren Emily Carman, Devon Carman, Nigel Mathias, Heidi Weber, Andrew Weber, Sarah Beavan, Zachary Beavan and Liam Beavan; brother Charles (Chi) Weber, sisters Jean Kessler and Mary Lou Wright. He is also survived by his three “AFS daughters”, Yuko Kuroki, Solveig Torres and Cathleen Helbig, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He was an active 57-year member of the Masonic fraternity, a Past Master of Avery Lodge #493 in Hilliard in 1979 & 2004. He was a 33rd Degree Mason in the Valley of Columbus, AASR, and a recipient of the Meritorious Service Award. He was also a Past High Priest of York-Temple Chapter #155 RAM, a Past Illustrious Master of York Council #115 RSM, a member of Columbus Commandery #69, St. Jerome Conclave Red Cross of Constantine, George M. Fitez Council #229 AMD, and a Past Patron of Level Chapter #109 OES.
Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Sunday at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, OH 43026, where a funeral service will be held at 11 AM Monday with Pastor Michael Poole officiating. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 PM on Sunday. Interment Dublin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Avery Lodge Memorial Fund.
