Wava Margene Barker

Wava Margene Barker, a resident of Galloway, Ohio, died at the age of 90 on January 9, 2024. Margene was born in Marmaduke, Arkansas on September 13, 1933. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Gene Barker, her parents, Leslie and Marie Brewer, siblings Jerry, Sandra, Joyce, Flontine, daughter Debra, and granddaughter Samantha. She is survived by children Chris Adams, Scott (Tammi) Schneider, Bob (Kristina) Barker, Cyn (Larry) Kindig, Karen (Paul) Miera, Susan Apodaca, Beth Stone, Robin (Pete) Porter, brother and sister-in-law Gary and Jane Brewer, sister-in-law June Curtis, sister-in-law Jane Barker, 27 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, and many, many nieces and nephews. Margene was supportive of Gene’s Navy career and a devoted mother to their 9 children. She also worked outside the home for many years as a food server and hostess. In later years she enjoyed volunteering at her local Senior Center. Margene loved reading, frequenting her local thrift shops, and quilting. Many of her family members were the recipients of her beautiful quilts and it was a hobby she enjoyed almost until the day she died. She was also an avid rooster and chicken collector, which was very apparent when you walked into her home. Margene was so loved and will be missed by many.

Graveside Services will be held at Rockhill Cemetery in Flushing, Ohio on January 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM for family.
