Webster S. Lyman, Jr., age 86, of Hilliard passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2008. He was a charter member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church and a US Army veteran serving in WWII as a Staff Seargeant 1944-46. He received his BS, LLB and JD from Ohio State University, and served as Ohio Civil Rights Commission, hearing examiner, Common Pleas Court, chairman/med arbitration, a private practice attorney from 1950-2003 and a court hearing officer for varying levels of government. Webster served on numerous professional, legal, civic and cultural associations and organizations for much of his adult life, including: charter member and Parlimentarian of Ohio Association of Black Attorneys, charter member and President Lawyers Christian Fellowship, President Robert B Elliott Law Club, Nominating committee National Bar Association, Commander American Legion 690, legal advisor Franklin Lodge of Elks 203, President Inner City Lions Club, Treasurer Columbus Urban League, President Isabelle Ridgeway Home for Aged, Vice President Project Linden, President Mu Iota Chapter Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and Vice President Franklin County Forum, in addition to serving as attorney for several churches. Webster was Past President Buckeye Bridge Club and Past President Second Community Bowling League. As a student and young adult Webster displayed his love of music as a member of the Beatty Center Orchestra, Tippi Dyer Orchestra, Phil McDade Orchestra and Pop Hines American Legion Night Club Orchestra. He was preceded in death by parents Webster Sr. and Madie (Tynes) Lyman; brother, Chester Lyman and sister, Catherine Busey. He is survived by loving wife of 60 years, Marion; daughters, Bonita L. Logan of AZ and Alisa (Bill) Renner of Columbus; grandson, R. Jeremy Logan of AZ and many loving relatives and friends.
