Wendy Burkitt

Wendy Ann Burkitt, age 60, of Hilliard OH, passed away on Tuesday Feb 17th 2015. Wendy spent her childhood in Berea, OH, where she had fond memories of time spent at Chippewa Lake. She graduated from Hilliard High School, and went on to earn her degree from Miami University. Wendy was a Language Arts teacher for Hilliard City Schools and taught for over 35 years. She was honored to receive Hilliard’s 2008 Educator of the Year award. However, it was the way she brought her classroom alive for her students that illustrated her love of teaching. Wendy enjoyed all things Summer, especially spending time at the pool with her grandchildren and lounging on her patio reading a good book. Wendy is survived by her children, Kelli (Ben) Crispin, Alan (Katie) Burkitt, and Kristi Burkitt; grandchildren Isabel and Owen Crispin; sisters, Holly (Mark) Menzie and Sherry Blowers; nephews, Dean, Greg, and Matt Menzie, and many other friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by infant son, Chris, and parents, Edith and Blair Blowers. The family will receive visitors from 2-6pm on Sunday Feb 22nd, and a memorial service will be held the following day at 11am. Both will take place at TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 NORWICH ST, HILLIARD OH 43026, officiated by Pastor Frank Luchsinger. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Wendy’s memory to Nationwide Children’s Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 16810, Columbus OH 43216.
