William Charles Alkire, age 79 of Mt. Sterling, passed away Friday, January 8, 2010 at the Ohio Masonic Home in Springfield. He was born March 29, 1930 in Mt. Sterling, Ohio; son of the late Abraham and Miriam (Hempstead) Alkire.
He was a retired Pilot for Nationwide Insurance; member of The United Church, Professional Pilots Assn., American Legion Post #417, Mt. Sterling.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; 3 sons, Bruce (Wendi) Alkire, Brian Alkire, and Scott Alkire, granddaughter, Kayli; nieces & nephews.
A Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling. Rev. Dan Shipley officiating with the interment following in Pleasant Cemetery. A military service will be performed at the graveside by the Circleville Amvets Post #2256 in honor of the Air Force veteran who served his country during the Korean Conflict. A Visitation will be held on Monday, January 11th from 4 – 7 p.m.
