William “Bill” R. Rozich, Jr., age 77, passed away on Wednesday February 12, 2025 after a difficult battle with mesothelioma. He is survived by his loving wife Betsy (Geiger) Rozich of 55 years. Together they raised 3 children Bill (Gerrilyn), Ken (Alyssa), and Rebecca (Andrew), and 8 grandchildren who he was incredibly proud of - Alex, Jack, Will, Ryan, Dillon, Ella, Zachary, and Lucas. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William R. Rozich and Olga (Duke) Rozich, his parents-in-law, Kenneth and Rosemary Geiger, and his brother-in-law and long-time friend Roger Mizerak.
Bill was an incredibly loving husband, a role model of a father, a funny and engaged grandfather, and a caring and devoted son. He was a proud IBM executive who retired after 37 years of service. Throughout his career he progressed through several technical and managerial roles, finishing as a plant director. An all-around handyman throughout his life, Bill was grateful that his dad had given him so much practical knowledge. Bill was extremely generous, always willing to help his family, friends, and community knowing there was a very good chance he had the right tools for the job and a plan.
Bill has been an active member of St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church over the last 9 years serving as a funeral usher and as a Eucharistic Minister. He volunteered his time at Naples Lakes Country Club where he resided part-time for the last 22 years. He was a current member of their Board of Directors having previously served as the Barrington Community President for 9 years. He also belonged to The Country Club at Muirfield Village where he enjoyed playing golf with the senior group. Bill and Betsy loved the 16 years they spent at Vermont National Country Club where they had a wonderful group of friends. Throughout his life, Bill and Betsy held numerous volunteer positions supporting local youth sports, charities, and the catholic churches of the communities they lived in.
Bill earned Bachelors of Science degrees in Chemistry and Biology from Fordham University and a Master’s of Science in Chemistry from SUNY New Paltz. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie, NY where he and Betsy began their wonderful lasting relationship. Bill was very active in scouts during his youth; he was proud to earn the rank of Eagle Scout, and work at their summer camps.
Bill was a constant provider, supporter, and giver, the one you could always count on. Family was the first love of his life. He was frequently bragging about his kids and grandkids. Bill loved travel, history, the beach (especially in Naples), and model trains. He was an avid golfer and loved the game, although he often joked that it often didn’t love him back. Bill will be deeply missed but we know his spirit will constantly be around us and will continue to guide us forward throughout our lives.
