William Carl, Jr.

William F. Carl Jr., age 83, of London, passed away December 18, 2023. William was a firefighter paramedic for Norwich Township and Columbus. He lived with his wife Karen (Kay) and raised their four children in Hilliard. He was a paramedic for Columbus Fire at its ALS beginning and also worked on Heart Mobile for C.F.D. Bill was a member of the C.F.D Paramedic International Competition Team with respectable finishes including 1984 Champion. During his career he also worked in recruitment and background searching out new recruits for the C.F.D. He was often accused of mischievous pranks and avidities. Upon retirement he was an active member of 4-Unit in which he designed the decal that is used for their window stickers and other paraphernalia. Preceded in death by parents William Sr. and Beatrice Carl, brothers Jack and Kermit, sisters Cindy and Cheryl. Survived by loving wife of 63 1/2 years, Karen “Kay” Carl, children Todd (Tammy) Carl, Christie (John) Carney, Mike (Dena) Carl and Connie Carl, sister Debbie Williams, grandchildren Michael, Tyler and Steven Carl, Mallory (Joe) Scott, David and Matt Carl, Shane (Erika) Blue and Molly Blue, Ali Evans and Cole William Carl, great grandchildren Lennon, Asa and Rowynn Supple, Lauren Carl, Jude and Juniper Blue. Family will receive friends Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 3PM- 6PM at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026; where funeral service will follow at 6PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Columbus Fire Museum.
