William and Clara Sue Kerr

The Kerr family announces the passing of their parents William on August 2, 2024 and Clara Sue on August 15, 2024.

William “Bill” Kerr, age 92, was born in Dayton, Ohio to Harland and Pearl (Hartzell) Kerr on July 13, 1932. Bill was raised in Columbus, Ohio and was a graduate of Linden McKinley High School. After graduation he served his country in the US Navy as a radarman on the USS Westchester County (LST 1167) during the Korean War. Bill worked in the financial services industry and proudly served his community as a Nationwide Insurance Agent and a member of Lions Clubs International. Bill was happily married to his beloved wife, Clara Sue for 68 years. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert and his sister Eleanor Jean Prince.

Clara Sue Kerr, age 92, was born in Columbus, Ohio to Warren and Helen (Edwards) Orendorff on November 4, 1931. Clara Sue was raised in Columbus, Ohio and was a graduate of Columbus South High School. Clara Sue worked as an office manager for Lazarus, Kroger and Bill’s Insurance Agency. A strong woman of faith, she served her church and many mission projects. Clara Sue was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Robert and Warren, sisters Frances (Stoltz) Hansher, Margaret Wagner.

William and Clara Sue are survived by their sons Bruce (Lynn) of Hilliard, Ohio, Jeff (Kathy) of Columbus, Ohio, their grandchildren Jennifer (Jimmy) Holstein, Matthew, Emily, Tyler, Molly (Jared) Allen, great grandchildren Taylor, Carter Holstein, many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 2:00 - 3:00 on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Riverside Methodist Church, 2701 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, OH 43221. A reception will immediately follow after the service.

William and Clara Sue will be interred in a private family service at a later date.
