William P. Hickey

William P. Hickey, 91 years old, was born in Gladewater, Texas in 1931. On July 7, 1956 Bill married Katherine “Kay” A. Skarote. They moved to Hilliard, Ohio in 1957 and lived there until June, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry C. Hickey and Alta M. (Moore) Hickey, his brothers Jack F. Hickey, Eugene “Gene” Hickey, Gerald T. Hickey (June) and Robert G. Hickey, sisters Angela L. Hickey and Peggy R. Griswold (Dick) and by a wonderful wife and best friend of 64 years Katherine A. (Skarote) Hickey and by his beloved daughter Lucy C. Hickey.

Bill is survived by his children: David W. Hickey (Marie), of Florence, KY, Minnie A. Hickey of Galloway, OH and Philip C. Hickey (Nicolette) of Portland, OR. He has four loving grandchildren: Neal Hickey (Kelly), Rene’ Hickey Jamison (Bob), Natalie Hickey Weeks (Ray) and Ashley Hickey, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

After two years in the United States Marine Corps where he served in the Marine Corps Honor Guard and the Silent Drill Platoon, Bill worked as a Professional Engineer for ABB for 40 years. He was an active parishioner of St. Brendan the Navigator Church of Hilliard for over 62 years serving as an Extraordinary Minister, Men’s Club member, Seniors for Seniors and served on the Parish Council. He was well-known for his home-made wine, his love for cooking and for writing. Thank you to the staff at the Mill Run Care facility for the care Bill received.

Graveside Services with Marine Corps Honors will be held 1:00p.m. WEDNESDAY at Wesley Chapel Cemetery, 3225 Dublin Road, Hilliard, OH 43026 with Father Frank Brown, officiating.
