William Litz

William (Bill) R. Litz, age 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 27^th at his home.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Litz and Violet (Smith) Litz as well as his sisters, Joyce Joseph, Maxine Reader and Marzella Cook.  Bill is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ruth E. (Ruby) Litz; children, Kathy (Jim) Kamnikar, Tammy (John) Grotsky, Carla (Jim) Hott, Bill (Laura) Litz, Gina (John) Rogers; grandchildren, Rachel Kamnikar, Gayle Angle, Brock Grotsky, Nicole (Bobby) Snyder, Ryan Litz, Devon Litz, Darby (Jesse) Miller, Haley (Connor) Curfman, Kyle Rogers and Lauren Rogers; great grandchildren, Xavier Angle, Tyson Angle, Tori Litz, Lane Byrd Luke Byrd, Jayden Lee, and Emorie Litz as well as many loving nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Bill graduated from West Portsmouth High School and joined the United States Navy the very next day.  He was deployed to Sasebo, Japan and served as a Motorboat Operator carrying U.S. troops to the shores to fight for their country during the Korean Conflict. Bill was a devoted member of The Potter’s House Church of God.  He served on the Board of Elders, was a member of the choir, visited first-time attenders and filled communion cups.  But the one thing Bill will be most remembered for was his warm smile and open arms as a greeter on Sunday morning. Attendees will always remember him saying “I’m blessed by the best and highly favored.” Although he will be greatly missed, his family feels comfort knowing that he is no longer suffering and he is rejoicing with the Lord. Family will receive friends Thursday, November 30, 2017 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Potter’s House Church of God, 3220 Lowell Dr., Columbus, OH 43204; where funeral service will be held 11 am Friday, December 1, 2017 with visitation 1 hour prior to the time of service with Pastor Tim Oldfield officiating.  Interment Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Potter’s House Church of God, 3220 Lowell Rd., Columbus, OH 43204.
