William "Howard" Tweed, age 90, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2015 at his home. Born July 6, 1924 in Fletcher, NC to the late Hamilton and Jenny Tweed. Howard served as a WWII U.S. Navy Gunner in the Pacific Theater on several aircraft carriers. Graduate of North Carolina State University, and was an avid supporter of the Wolfpack. He retired as Deputy Director of Transportation from ODOT; he also owned his own consulting firm. He was a proud member of the Tennessee Squires, the Democratic Party, American Legion, the Ohio Farm Bureau. Preceded in death by wife, Agnes Austin Tweed; daughter, Lucy Tweed; grandson, Jacob Carter; 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Survived by daughters, Ella (Jerry) Bentley, Carolyn (John) Little, Mary (Chris) Hutchison and Susan (A.J.) Kelich; 17 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Friends may call Tuesday, June 2, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St. in Hilliard, OH. Graveside service will be Wednesday, 11 a.m. at the Sunset Cemetery, 6959 W. Broad St. in Galloway, OH. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions to the Autism Society of Central Ohio or the James Cancer Hospital.
