Wilma S. Holbrook, 86, passed away January 9, 2016, from natural causes, surrounded by family. Wilma is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, to whom she had a strong and loving marriage for 66 years before his passing on Aug. 1, 2015. She was born in Sciotoville, Ohio, on May 24, 1929, to Louis Creighton and Ruie Semones. In high school, she and her sister were singers for WPAY radio in Portsmouth, Ohio, where she met Joe. As her four children grew older, she worked for many years as a receptionist and executive secretary for Vincent Graphics. Throughout her life, Wilma loved unconditionally – life, her family and her many friends - and possessed a fun-loving and vibrant spirit filled with humor. She was always the ultimate Ohio State fan – they were her Buckeyes. She and Joe would travel to OSU football and basketball games, near and far. She never lost her love of travel - or margaritas - and she and Joe toured and cruised the world in their later years. She was tolerant and compassionate to all, welcoming everyone into her family as if they were her own. Wilma cherished and doted on each of her eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She spent her final years at The Forum at Knightsbridge in Columbus where she was cared for by Joe and then by the compassionate and wonderful staff there. Wilma is survived by children Steven (Laura), Amy, Nancy and Pat (Diana) Holbrook, all of Columbus; grandchildren Rian Miller (Favor Ryland-Davis), Michael Miller, Katie Durborow (Nathan Sweeting), Jake Holbrook, Karena Clark, Danielle Clark, Joshua Clark and Kaden Holbrook; great-grandchildren Adam Ryland-Davis, Travis Ryland-Davis, Lily Miller, Abi Sweeting and Tucker Sweeting. Calling hours are Friday, January 15, 2016, 2-4 p.m. at TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, followed by a service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Central Ohio Chapter, 1379 Dublin Rd., Columbus, Ohio, 43215 or at www.alz.org/centralohio.
